MORRISTOWN, NJ — April 26, 2023 — Sarina Dang of Montville Township, NJ was named the recipient of the 2023 Zonta International Zonta Club of Morristown Area Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award.

The goal of the YWPA Award program is to encourage young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing a young woman’s commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the empowerment of women.

Applicants are asked to reflect on their voluntary commitment to their school and their community and the problems limiting the empowerment of women in their own country and worldwide. The Zonta International YWPA Award program looks to the young women of today for the leaders of tomorrow.

Ms. Dang was named the 2023 Zonta International Zonta Club of Morristown Area YWPA Award recipient because she stated that: “Her high school journey of community service, led her to have an interest in a governmental and political career”.  Ms. Dang intends to pursue Political Science on a Pre-Law path at Syracuse University, and to eventually have a future in the United States government. She believes women should take measures to realize a more equitable distribution of power between the sexes in government and in all leadership positions.

Homeless Solutions Thanks Our Club

Prior to the Pandemic, the Zonta Club of Morristown Area had been coordinating a Service Project with Homeless Solutions. Sadly, however, that had to be put on hold. But now with the world opening up again and need being so keenly felt, we were able to send an initial monetary donation to Homeless Solutions. Please feel free to peruse the letter of thanks sent by Ashley Montesano.

Our Vision: Zonta International envisions a world in which women's rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential.

In such a world, women have access to all resources and are represented in decision-making positions on an equal basis with men.

In such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence.
